Logbook

Logbook & Calculator XC Planner

Log every flight. Hour totals derive automatically and feed the certificate calculator + dashboard. Data stays in your browser (localStorage) — export to JSON anytime for backup.

Study aid, not a legal logbook. This tracker mirrors what you'd capture in your real (paper or ForeFlight-verified) logbook so you can see hours and endorsements at a glance. Per the FAA, the legal record is your signed logbook — anything in this tool can be edited freely, so a DPE will only treat it as a reference alongside the real thing.

Flight Log

How fields map to certificate requirements: Hours are summed across all entries — total, PIC, dual, solo, night, and instrument feed every cert. Category-specific totals (helicopter or airplane) only count entries with the matching category; multi-engine PIC tracking only counts entries with class set to MEL/MES. Cross-country PIC requires both PIC and XC time on the same entry. Currency requirements (e.g., "3 hrs in past 2 calendar months") use the entry date.
The calculator is only as honest as your data. Empty XC distance / approach / instrument fields will show as missing hours — fill them in for a true picture. Strict checks like "150 NM solo XC, 3 landing points, longest leg ≥ 50 NM" need the XC detail fields populated on the qualifying flight to flip from "○ candidate" to "✓ verified." Most pilots — especially during primary training — under-record these out of habit rather than malice; treat the calculator's "still need" lines as instructions to clean up the logbook, not as accusations of missing hours.

Endorsements

CFI sign-offs per AC 61-65 — pre-solo, solo, knowledge tests, practical tests, flight reviews, IPC. Recurring endorsements (90-day solo, 24-month flight review) auto-compute their own expiry from the issue date.
