Airman Certification Standards (ACS) & Practical Test Standards (PTS)
In November 2023, the FAA published Helicopter ACS for PPL (FAA-S-ACS-15), CPL (FAA-S-ACS-16), Instrument Rating (FAA-S-ACS-14), and CFI (FAA-S-ACS-29). CFII rotorcraft remains under PTS (FAA-S-8081-9 series) — the FAA has not yet issued an ACS replacement for CFII. Always check the FAA Airman Testing portal for the current edition.
-
Private Pilot for Rotorcraft Category Helicopter Rating ACS (FAA-S-ACS-15)Current PPL helicopter ACS, published November 2023. Replaces FAA-S-8081-15B PTS. Knowledge / Risk Management / Skills codes per task.
-
Instrument Rating – Helicopter ACS (FAA-S-ACS-14)Current IFR helicopter ACS, published November 2023. Replaces FAA-S-8081-4E PTS.
-
Commercial Pilot for Rotorcraft Category Helicopter Rating ACS (FAA-S-ACS-16)Current CPL helicopter ACS, published November 2023. Replaces FAA-S-8081-16B PTS.
